Oscar Schmidt DeLuxe Model 570 c 1925  |  HOLD  | (v2035)  This type guitar appeared in the 1932 Schmidt catalog as a model 570 Stella, Standard-size, at a cost of $66.00 ... per dozen! This example pretty much follows the catalog description:  "Birchwood body.  Top edge and sound holebound with white celluloid and beautifully colored purfling.  Fancy strip of decalcomania through center of back.  shaded Satin finish.  Poplar neck.  White Pearlette Guardplate.  White pearlette headpiece and fingerboard with inlaid ebony position dots.  Silver frets, bone nut, nickel plated machine heads.  Rosewood bone fretted bridge with pearleye endpins.  Good quality strings."

This is a solid example of what appears to have been a popular model for the Schmidt company, and is well set up and ready to go.  Recent repairs include:  neck reset; new saddle; some braces glued; some bulging sides glued; pick guard re-glued; frets leveled and dressed; tuning machines cleaned and lubed.  The guitars is in solid, original condition and shows play wear, nicks, dings and scratches from age and use, but no cracks.  For aesthetic purposes, some wood was inlaid along the back seam lower bout where the side would not line up completely with the back.

The body measures 13 3/8" across at the lower bout. Scale length is 24 13/16". The neck is carved in a 'V' and measures 1 13/16" across at the nut, and string spacing is 2 1/8" across at the saddle. Action is set at 6/64" and the guitar plays easily.

The tone is what the Stella fuss is all about; brassy but warm, boxy but open, with good sustain. Great for blues finger picking or old time music.

Comes with a new, well-fitting hard case.
