National Ukulele  c 1935  |  SOLD  |  Vintage National instrument catalogs list ukulele offerings almost from the beginning of National instrument production, and were produced in several of the 'regular' National lines such as the painted Triolian and plated German silver models.  Very few have surfaced.  This example dates to the mid 1930 based on its serial number cross-referenced with the serial numbers listed in the Brozman book on Nationals.  The Style 1 uke body is German silver, and nickel plated.  This example had been altered at some point in time.  It appears to have been re-plated in a gold tinted hue, the neck painted gold, and fingerboard stripes painted in gold to match.  The half-present decal is a reproduction.    The tuners and cone appear original to the uke.  The fingerboard is ebony.  

The overall length is 21 1/2".  The lower bout measures 7 1/16".  Fingerboard width is 1 5/8" across at the nut, and the scale length is 14".  

The uke plays easily and produces a sound that only a metal-body uke can muster, and will be the coolest instrument at the local luau jam!
