National Reso-Phonic Guitar 1959  |  HOLD  |  (v2339)  Another oddball from the National company, which, over the decades, surely created their share of oddball guitars!  The Reso-Phonic first appeared in the late 50s, and was a 3/4-size, solid-body guitar with a cone and two cover plates .. one front, one back.  The wood body is covered in colored celluloid/pearloid and decked out with some deco-like touches.  Overall, a pretty attractive piece from both an aesthetic and historic perspective.

The wood body is encased in white pearloid.  A large black pickguard features a colorful National shield logo and some white trim to enhance the white Reso-Phonic logo.  The neck is likely maple, and features a rosewood fingerboard.  The headstock sports a National sticker.  The tuners are copper/gold single enclosed Klusons.  The serial number is displayed on a small metal tag on the rear of the headstock.

The body measures 12" across at the lower bout.  Scale length is 22".  The neck measures 1 5/8" across at the nut, with string spacing ~ 2 1/16" at the saddle.

The guitar is in original condition with no apparent damage.  There is some wear, nicks and dings from age and use.

Action is set at about 6/64" and the guitar plays well.  The sound is unique .. very thin, with the highs sounding almost like an electric guitar.

Comes with its original soft case.
