sold / Guild MkIII Classical Guitar 1972 v2130
Guild Mark III Classical 1972  |  SOLD  |  (v2130)  Guild produced a run of classical guitars (Mark I through VII) beginning in 1961 which ran through the late 80s.  The 'Mark' line of guitars is said to have been named after Guild founder Al Dronge's son, Mark, and inspired by primier luthier Carlo Greco.  The serial number on the back of the head stock, 74193, dates this guitar to 1972.

The Mark III is a well crafted guitar made with quality materials.  The back and sides are Peruvian mahogany.  The top is cedar, fan braced, and features a floral sound hole rosette.  The neck is mahogany and features a rosewood fingerboard.  The bridge is rosewood.

The body measures 14 7/8" across at the lower bout, and is 3 5/8" deep.  The scale length is  25 3/4".  The fingerboard is 2" across at the nut, and string spacing is 2 5/16" across at the saddle.

The guitar is all original and in very fine condition.   There appear to be no prior repairs to the guitar.  We recently re-glued the bridge.  The finish sparkles with only a few nicks from age and use.  Action is set at 8/64".

The guitar plays easily and projects quite well.. ..bright trebles and punchy bass.  As well crafted instruments made from quality materials the Mark line of guitars represent quite the value among American-made vintage guitars.

Comes with its original hard case.
