Gibson L-00 1934  |  SOLD  |  (v1946)  The L-00 was among the earliest of Gibson's 'big-body' guitars at the end of the 1920s.  The L-00 was a 'budget' offering in the lineup, but it proved to be very popular then, as it is today.  The early L-00s are lightly built, made from quality materials and fun to play.

This is about as an original and intact example as one could hope to find.  The back and sides are mahogany.  The top is spruce with celluloid binding, minimalist sound hole trim and the classic 'firestripe' pick guard.  The sunbursts on these early examples are always small and are among our favorite Gibson 'bursts.  The bridge is Brazilian rosewood, is original to the guitar and retains its original profile as well as its bone saddle.  The neck is mahogany, and carved in a flattish 'V', not quite as pronounced as these necks would become over the next few years.  The head stock is shaped in the classic Gibson 'open book' profile, and painted black with 'Gibson' stenciled in white.  The top is X-braced.  The tuners are original except for one worm shaft, which broke and was replaced (note the black button).  A few of the bridge pins are not original.

The guitar exhibits no prior repairs.  We recently reset the neck and glued and cleated a small crack extending from the fingerboard end to the sound hole.  The finish is original and shows an appealing patina from its age, and was left unbuffed for that reason.

Comes with a newer hard case.
